"Can I get you two hepcats anything?"
Morgan, frequently called "The Clerk", is a major character in Left of the Dial.
Personality[]
Morgan is a lower-energy person with a strong sense of self-preservation. She has previously been naturally curious, drawn to unusual and sometimes morbid rabbit holes of study, though is less so since her time in Black Top. She does everything her job at Moodys' asks of her, but with a distinct disdain and lack of enthusiasm. She has strong interest and knowledge in sound and music, and, having spent time in The City, is used to and quick to accept the weird
History[]
Morgan used to be a musicologist. After learning about magic, she became obsessed with the godssong, a song that reportedly either is God, or transcends it. Morgan herself believes it to be the perfect piece of music, unable to be played in it's true form by humans. Believing this, Morgan learned to bodycraft, in order to create a being who could play it. She went to the Black Top because she heard it had been adapted to create bodies, but her plans went awry, not finishing her ritual, and instead finding herself working at Moody's.
Before ending up in Black Top, she took her niece to the cinema to see The Pacifier, and though she thought it was awful, still remembers the plot.
Skills and Abilities[]
- Moody's Employee: while in the employ of Moody's, she manifests at whatever establishment a person in The Blacktop needs, performing various service jobs.
- Sorcerer: Morgan has some experience as a sorcerer
- Bodycrafter: She has some previous experience building bodies.
- Growing Instruments: Taught to grow and educate instruments to aid her with her tasks.
- Musician: She can play the Naverlee (a banjo-esque instrument grown by herself with modified instructions from the Moodys' employee handbook).
Relationships[]
Nicholas Waters[]
Morgan is initially very unimpressed with Nicholas, and his attempts to convince her he can help with his powerful sorcerer abilities are frequently shrugged off. During the time that Nicholas and Static Man stay with her, she lightens up around him, even discussing her past work and projects with him. She eventually agrees to return to Earth with him, and the suggestion of employment mentioned.
Static Man[]
Morgan isn't quite as unimpressed by Static Man initially as she is with Nicholas, but still seems to find him a bit tiresome. Static Man is casual but a bit subdued and polite with her, and correctly identifies her as human almost immediately. Similarly, she identifies him as working for Nicholas very quickly. While Nicholas and Static Man stay with her, she softens up and begins to grow somewhat fond of him, joining in on conversations and appreciating his jokes. Eventually trusting they can keep her safe, she agrees to come back to Earth with them.
Trucker[]
Little is known of their past dealings, though they are well aware of each-other's existence. Trucker notes that she makes good music.

Trivia[]
- Doctor Persimmons mentions the person who turned her boss into a monkey was "a passing mage who wanted to keep their head down", while Morgan mentions wanting to keep her head down several times.
- Her Season 1 Pokémon starter of choice is Bulbasaur, who she believes to be underrated. Unknown if her choice of a grass-type is a nod to her growing instruments.
- She got involved with the esoteric enough to know who Michael Waters was, but never met him.
