About[]

LMG is a large, globally-operating and multi-industry company with involvement in fields including aerospace, agriculture, biotechnology, chemicals, construction, defense, education, energy, entertainment, financial services, food, healthcare, hospitality, information, manufacturing, mass media, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, transportation, and water. The branch of LMG featured in the podcast operates out of America and concerns itself with "weird stuff" and the supernatural, and how to turn a profit from it. The branch in question has operated since at least the 80s, but is destroyed following an attack from The Cult in late 2016 or early 2017.

They are far more concerned with profit than human life, and have manipulated and targeted people who won't be missed on many occasions, to feed to entities, or as expendable employees when dealing with potentially dangerous artifacts or situations. Manipulation has been seen in the form of deception (Dan, Melody), extortion (Clara), and outright kidnapping (Caroline, various homeless). Most notable is the extensive collection of tapes inherited and added to by Liam Davenport. They have also employed a number of Weird People over the years. LMG are major antagonists in both season 1 and season 2.

They have an uncomfortable and violent history with The Cult, which strongly disapproves of the company involving itself with less scientific endeavours.

History[]

In 1994, LMG, pretending to be a government department, hired Melody Pendras to investigate the Visser Building under the guise of a historical preservation project, and ultimately led to the building's collapse. Davenport met with Iris Vos of Baas shortly after, to aquire Melody's tapes, as well as the dead bodies from the collapse.

In 1998, LMG conducted a hostile takeover of former competitor TOC. There is some indication they may have acquired Baas as well.

Sometime in the late 90s, LMG attempted, and failed, to recreate the Visser Building. Named Vining Towers, it was Davenport's project, and like Visser, was fed human lives. It was taken into the city around late 1998. It was topped with between 8 and 100 gargoyles, which Davenport's team assured him was important.

People[]

Middle management[]

Liam Davenport[]

The man in charge of the archive, and one of the leading individuals in the "weird stuff" department. He has been working for the company since at least the 90s, and seems to be behind most of the branch's activity.

Mr. Brown[]

Largely concerned with finances, he worked out of San Antonio in the 90s. Along with Davenport and Cynthia he is involved with managing the outpost team.

Cynthia Closer[]

Originally a consultant working out of Seattle in the 90s, she is involved with matters related to The City, and largely responsible for dealing with The Cult.

Craig Smith[]

Middle manager from the 90s working out of Providence. Little is known about him.

Visser Project[]

Melody Pendras[]

Melody is mislead into investigating Visser for LMG, believing she is doing an archival project for a government agency. She appears to have been working under Davenport. LMG maintains some façade of her existence online. She has been keeping an eye on them from The City by use of a mirror stone.

Daniel Powell[]

Dan initially has no idea he's working for LMG, convinced he's working for a government agency. LMG has him listen to and catalogue Archive 81, Melody's tapes, and in doing so he opens a portal to The City. Dan is targeted for this project due to his lack of strong interpersonal relationships, they believe he will not be missed. Davenport acts as his supervisor. Since Dan has proved capable of handling a lot of weirdness, LMG spends a lot of time and resources to tracking down again, planning, and succeeding, in forcefully modifying him, in order to make him yet more useful. Dan does not legally own the new part of his body, it is property of LMG.

The Outpost[]

Rat[]

Rat was approached by LMG and is a willing and eager employee. He cares little for the company itself, but appreciates the freedom and resources they can offer. They gave him Caroline as a personal project, and Daniel's modification seems to have been a joint idea between the two.

Caroline[]

An enemy of LMG, she is kidnapped, hollowed out, and forced to work for them. She resents them and gets some revenge by killing Davenport.

Clara[]

LMG ropes Jennifer Martine into exploring The City by having her owe them for something, most likely helping get her brother back to "normal" (which may be weird-related in itself). They give her the name "Clara" and ensure her further cooperation by threatening other family members, with unemployment and identity theft. Clara is able to return home secure in the knowledge her family is safe. She is not familiar with Davenport, Mr. Brown, or Cynthia prior to The City, so it's unclear who she dealt with prior to arriving in The City.

Lou[]

It's unclear how Lou got initially involved in The City, but seems to be there willingly, with the promise of adventure and exploration. Clara's family is threatened in his place. Lou is a name given by LMG.

Other[]

Chad[]

LMG employee who worked under Davenport in the 90s until he was killed by Alexa Pendras. He was frequently responsible for interviewing individuals of interest including Carl, The Representative of The Curator, TOC Tim, and Alexa.

Mercenary Team[]

A team of Mercenaries hired by LMG to explore The City, who ended up
